  • Heat damage or severe corrosion

Never attempt field repairs such as welding or straightening. Always use matching body and pin from the same manufacturer and grade. Substituting a bolt for a proper shackle pin is extremely dangerous.

  • Center the load in the bow; avoid side loading when possible. If side loading is unavoidable, reduce the WLL according to manufacturer guidance (typically 30–50% depending on angle).
  • Keep multiple sling legs on the body, not the pin, and limit included angles to 120°.
